I have bought a number of new Harleys over the last 50 years, mostly all touring bikes which I was riding a good amount. Doing some long distance trips most every year. The last two have been Hertiage models a 2020 that had 35K on it and a 2024 Hydra Glide base on the Softail platform. I think the later model Hertiage Softail bikes are the best bang for your buck. And don’t have nearly as much electronic controls on them.. But a lot of the other manufacturers are loaded with electronic controls and carry high prices similar to Harley. And for the most part I don’t care for their styling which looks like a angry insect to me.

They're just designing the looks to match the sound.

Just got to post my 3 cents worth on this. I have six Harleys but have never and never will buy a new one. Last times I have gone to a dealership to buy 50wt oil; one dealer employee told me I could not park in parking since my Shovelhead was leaking oil on the asphalt and at another time, I had a girl dressed like a pirate in the parts department tell me that Harley has never made a bike that used 50wt oil. In my opinion the last genuine Harley Davidson was the Evolution model. All models manufactured after that time are just bikes made to resemble and sound like authentic Harleys for sales purposes. I do have one late model Harley, a Twin Cam I use only for traveling distance. If it broke down at home, I would not trust anyone in my local dealership repair it. If it broke down on a long trip, there would be some Harley dealers that would not work on it since they would consider a Twin Cam to be obsolete. I probably have not been in a dealership in last approx. 10 or more years and do not plan to go in one again. Harley has created their own problems, and I have no symphony for them. Now, I feel better.

That's kinda funny and ridiculous all at the same time.

The pirate was so misinformed. Not sure about the M8s but as recent as twin cams 50w and 60w is recommended in warmer weather by the factory.

Meanwhile there are still pockets of hope:

Here is what a local independent shop recently posted on fb:

"We have a couple of very exciting things on the very near horizon.
These were well thought out business decisions.
                    1) The launch of our over 1B dollar on-line sales store/shipping, covering Harley-Davidson motorcycle parts(and others) from the 1930's to 2026, and 2), our 2nd, new DynoJet Dynamometer(we will have 2, that's correct) landing at our facility in approx 3 weeks.
This will mark the region's most up to date software/firmware/calibration, to be EFI tuning TechnoResearch, MadLad Solutions, Dynojet, and Thundermax,(Impact soon also) combined with 30 years of dyno tuning experience and knowledge, along with our well stocked retail counter, complete Harley-Davidson machine shop, and cylinder head shop, service work, tires, etc, etc, etc, makes us the absolute easy choice, once again, with nothing remotely close to us in the entire region.
Our OG DynoJet will be used for our well known carb bike tuning,(and still used for EFI as well) and long choppers also.
Our way of celebrating our 40th year in business, (with engine clients on 4 continents) has us on the heavy move forward, again, to better serve our clients.
                    Not made in China.
                    Scott"

                      Hello everyone!

The product substance offered by competitors nowadays (especially from Chinese brands) and the price positioning they offer are putting a strain on H-D! Affordable bikes vs Harley vs working class economic strain, as described in the article.

Even with electric cars Chinese BYD is on the tail of Tesla.

The Chinese motorcycle brands are evolving quickly and have improved somehow their offering (quality).
They are causing shockwaves in the market.
Harley will push on into the future 100%!!!
There is always going to be a market for the moco

New HD bikes are awesome but so far failed to put that special smile on my face when i ride the Knucklehead or the Panhead…period

                      Have a great weekend
