Probably just like other models and manufactures there were running changes during production. These do not show up in parts books or handbooks. This picture from an early Harley publication shows a skirted front Harley Sport Model decals 001.JPG fender Sport Model with the shield decal. 1919 models had open front fenders with no side skirts. The side skirts were added in early or mid 1920.

Thanks Tom, but I'd still like to see an original paint 1920 with that logo, you would think there would be one somewhere with all they made in 1920 and mine is a fairly early number 1920.
