G,day i have some additional frame numbers on my 55 panhead ,one reads DRF59706 which runs on the R/S of the frame near oil tank and the other one is beside the seat post R/S ,hear are some photos I have read that California rego would stamp the frame as a vin ? ,seat post number the bike may have went back to the factory for repairs ,is this true and can the factory number be traced for reasons of repairs , cheers RobRobpanhead frame numbers 2.jpg20170315_054851.jpg

My guess is that your frame was once a L.A.P.D. bike. They registered all their bikes by a DRF number on the frame for several years. This way they could swap engines willy nilly. That 715R may be a factory number for a frame repair or a police dept number. It is not anything to do with serial numbers.Be sure to visit;
