me too!
Hey AdminGuy, here's my first post... pretty much the same as those above but I'll say it anyway;
My vote is the AMCA should go forward with real time classifieds here online for it's members. The concern of fairness because not everyone has internet access is noble but a detriment to to the hobby. It's like saying the swap meets should be discontinued because not everyone is able to attend them.
We all enjoy the magazine, but who solely relies on the "reCycleables" to get their projects completed? Waiting for fresh ads on a quarterly basis just doesn't cut it and is the reason I rarely use it to buy or sell.
I fail to see how posting the same quarterly magazine ads, online, seven days after delivery would improve things. It's still every quarter, some would still receive their magazines in the mail before the rest and most likely, anything good will be already be long sold before it hits these pages. Not to mention the folks without computers are still.....
Hey, I'm not a computer whiz, I struggle with mine but I stepped up because today's world is beyond telephone and color TV. Sure, maybe lots of members don't have computers but for many thats also a lifestyle choice, and for others access is readily available when they want or need it thru family and friends. It will be a sad day when our club starts blaming eBay for diminished memberships and club participation.
I'm new to this wed site and think it can be a great club asset for parts and exchange of knowledge. No doubt real time classifieds will bring in the members.
Best Regards, Jerry
P.S. Andy, I too did a few laps at Kissina back in the 70's.
