U.p.s. Lost 1914 harley frame stolen?????? 6/27/12

It’s just too easy to blame other folks. When shipping anything box it correctly & insure it. Both sides of the transaction have to do they part. UPS should have had more regard for the package but they are not to blame.

Pretty hard to just put in your pocket. It will get lost if the label falls off, gets torn off, or sticks to another package on the belt line.

I disagree with that Dave. Without confidence in the shipper, how can you ever put your trust in them. If there was an address on the package, UPS had a sacred obligation to deliever that package. Insurance should not be necessary because if UPS can't fulfill their mission statement to deliver goods, they should be out of business.

I have been notified by a UPS agent that UPS insurance is coverage for damaged items. Loss prevention is a separate department.
Loss is the responsibility of UPS with or without insurance.

Another 45 minutes on the phone to U.P.S. they will not give you a phone number for Loss prevention! All they will tell you is that Loss Prevention has to call you!

Wonder if UPS was involved? NEW YORK August 1, 2012 (AP) - A painting by the late pop artist Roy Lichtenstein that disappeared 42 years ago has turned up in a New York City warehouse and is in legal limbo.
Lichtenstein's black and white "Electric Cord" was reported stolen after it was sent out to be cleaned by owner Leo Castelli in 1970 and never returned.
The painting shows a tightly wound electrical cord. Court papers say it re-emerged last week when the Roy Lichtenstein Foundation notified Castelli's widow, Barbara Castelli, someone was trying to sell it.
Castelli's court filings say the painting recently was on display at a museum in Colombia. They say Castelli is "deeply concerned" the painting may disappear again.
A judge on Tuesday signed an order barring the Manhattan warehouse from selling or moving the painting until a hearing next week.

I got to chime in on this one more time. The UPS bulk center in Mass is huge. I do not feel that this frame was stolen at all. UPS has unbelievable security at these places. I have witness this first hand. When I used to go up to the New York City bulk center to pick up packages in the 90s, I would watch groups of employees leaving. Every person was patted down and every lunch pale and bag searched before they were allowed to leave. Nobody is walking out of there with a frame under their arm. What I do believe happened here is plain and simple. The same asshole that shipped this thing with no insurance probably threw a couple of pieces of bubble wrap around this frame and then stuck on the bill of lading which promptly fell off in Mass. This frame is probably sitting in a dead items lock up waiting for Dewey to get off his ass and go down to Shrewsbury and claim it. And there ya have my view. Bob L

Wouldn't you think that by now an UPS employee did a walk through to try and find this frame at the Shrewsbury facitlty? Why do you think they can't located it? It can't be to hard to see. Will UPS let a person off the street come in and look for the frame in their facility?

No I don't! The people at the other end of those phone lines don't give a shitt other than getting rid of you any way they can. Personally, I don't think anyone went out to look for that frame. For them it's another day and it's not their problem. You're talking about a bulk center that moves a minimum of a million plus parcels a day. Bob L
