  • safe payment?

Thinking about selling my Pan at Wauseon this year. With all the different ways the scammers have to fake stuff, What's the safest way to sell something like that and know the moneys there? I know cash is king, but rarely am I that lucky.

Cash only, If they can't come up with it at the time, they really don't have it!

Cash is definitely king but a bank wire transfer is a good way to go also if you're not trying fly under the radar. Might cost the sender 15 bucks or so but is safe and secure.

Bucks up front, or if the buyer says it is in the bank go to the bank with them have them withdraw and count the dead pres's into your palm.

Just use paypal and have them cover the fee. Paypal don't put money in your account until it's in theirs. Then again there's the tax thing. Any thing over 10Gs gets reported. Get cash! If they want it, It won't be a ploblem. Bob L

Seems to me paypal would work, if you have a email address. When it says the money is in your account, I would trust that it is. Is there a fee? I don't know, but safe money transfer, and not having to hold a wad of cash, is worth something to me. I use it for ebay all the time. Mike

Regretfully there are more and more scams with PayPal all the time concerning unscrupulous buyers. The buyer is protected more than the seller and many instances are documented where a buyer claims a defect or damage and PayPal refunds their money. Cash and cash alone for me in a muddy field with a stranger.

I hear where Robbie is coming from on this one. I recently sold some parts on ebay and since it had been awhile between my selling dates, they decided to hold my money for me! I gotta wait nearly a month before they'll let me know whether I get it or not! They blatantly say that it's to protect the buyer and insure that I shipped the items! I'd be holding out for cash on a bike sale.

I agree with Rub. Anyone going to Wauseon swap meet to buy a bike will have cash on them.
Dreamers, schemers and impulse shoppers will only give you headaches.
You would need to have the Title on hand at the swap meet.
