    Howdy sir,

Actually out of the later model Indians was this sleeper described as a 52 Chief when it was really a last 200 5 digit 53 with a convincing 9,500 miles original paint, still with wooden battery frog, Amal carb and only missing the dist. cowl. It was parked next to that Shadow getting all the attention so was naively thinking it might go at it's projected $15k-20k and was prepared to have friend go after it with my knuckle funds. A no-compression non runner it went for $36k to someone who knew what they were looking at.
    Cheerio,

Those kind of prices are making some folks allot of money and in my opinion have gone along way to killing this hobby. I believe also the more the prices go up the less and less of the old machines we will see actually being ridden. No longer toys to have fun playing with, to many only want to make a quick turn around and make their fortunes. Tis the way it is I know, but I don't have to like it. A sad thing and I would guess, the old time ridders would say the same. Going back in my little barn, grateful for what I got.

Gordy Clark is a super nice So Cal guy, who at one time owned 7 or 9 Crockers, all at the same time! He even raced his Crocker V-twin in the Holigan Class at the Ventura short track races, hitting the wall, and breaking the rear brakes in doing so. Gordy is/was a true enthusiast/collector, and was in the Indian parade for Dean Hensley's funeral procession.

I saw Gordy race that Crocker, could not believe it - it was very cool! Has he passed? if so far to young, and sorry to hear it.
