      • JoJo357's post #3856 - top pic Ron Finch at the old Brown Rd shop, bottom pic Carroll Resweber & Ralph Berndt loaded up with '57 Ford circa 1960 judging by the cycle tank graphics. Same garage and driveway as the previous Ranchero photo in post #3828 from this thread.

BLB's post #3857 - top pic I think is racer Ralph Hepburn taken at the Milwaukee Mile.

          • Post #3860 above featuring Irving Janke known as "Yank", Janke had a 33 year law enforcement career in Milwaukee after retiring from racing in 1921. In 1914 as a 19 year old lad his riding antics landed him in front of a judge arrested on five charges of road violations three of which were speeding, the additional two charges being reckless driving and violation of the rules of the road. He was given 30 days to pay a $50 fine and ordered not to ride his motorcycle until the fine had been paid. I'd bet the Milwaukee PD was very happy to have him join their motor patrol unit several years later.

            • Question? I see that the #7 H-D racer is an overhead 8 valve four port but what is the chain behind the cam cover running down to? Pedal wouldn't be for starting? Not a generator? Single speed machine I would think? Weird never seen that before.

Don't know Rich O. When I spied the photo, the first thing that caught my attention was the barefoot rider. Then I spotted the wEiRd pedal chain. Need closeup & other side pictures.

                    • H-D is recognizing the 75th Anniversary of the Hydra-Glide this year 1949-2024, my grandfather who worked in H-D's Experimental Dept had input in the development of the Hydra-Glide. I have a 1949 group photo of Exp Dept employees so yesterday I made myself a new avatar image cropping my G'pa Joe from the 75 year old photo.

Even more confusing, as the left side clearly shows another secondary chain on the right side in line with the vertical chain. Too bad the picture is a draft~thanks for the effort Tommo.
