                        The storied Crocker Motorcycle and here - a photo that include creator Albert Crocker on the right. Sam Parriot as the rider in this photo in 1940 recorded 136.87 mph speed on dry lake Muroc (now known as Rogers Dry Lake) in Muroc (Mojave Desert) California, with a parallel valve engine. Paul Bigsby also pictured on the left.

                                When Royal Air Force Captain Charles "CK" Shepherd mustered out of the service at the end of WW1 he had that need to get going and do something. His choice of activity was to buy a 1919 Henderson MC, begin in New York City and drive across the USA to Los Angelos. Its a pretty amazing story of a road trip where in some cases there were no roads.
