    That's a Model M Linkert, Mike,..

'65 was the last year for them, and they don't bolt up to Chubbles.

Custom bike, why can't it have a custom manifold? Manifold adapter plates are easy to make. I've also had several custom made manifolds as I'm sure you have too.

        Seriously, Bob,,..

Who is going to go to that much trouble to take off a new DC and put on an old Model M?

PS: And you know that any adapter would make the Linkert stick out into the next lane.
Let's say he milled the flange off of a DC manifold, and welded on a 4-bolt plate for a Linkert:

But please explain all the *plumbing* to the rear rocker box?

And the seat sure looks like hair curling rollers to me.

              Works for me, Bob!

Who needs carburetors anyway if you can pour in enough for a run?

Isn't that a turnpike ticket box? I remember seeing one of those as a kid (out of service but still there) when Rt 40 in Cumberland MD was a toll road.

Mike, your picture and description reminded me of some pictures I scanned out of a history of the California Highway Patrol Book. Here is one of the founding motorcycle officers.

                  • New Mexico did not form a state patrol until the 30s.Just not enough people here to warrant such a thing. But when they did they chose motorcycles for it almost exclusively, very few cars until the '40s. The H-D dealer at the time convinced them to use their products, and then he went on to become one of its first officers. The New Mexico Motor Patrol lasted just a couple years before becoming the New Mexico State Police. To this day they use the same uniform colors and style. Here is a first year officer. scan0081.jpg

                    • Administrator, Why did we loose some pictures from here, what was wrong with the chicken truck and the posts following and the Indian pic and reply? Are there certain guidelines? Does 'vintage pics of the day' mean motorcycles only? Thanks, just need to know what I can post.

                      • I looked for that picture earlier and thought I just lost my way on the forum. If we're going to start censoring content, there's no telling where that will end, I mean look how rotten facebook, and twitter are If something does need to be censored, there should be a flag posted, with a reason.

The rules come from the AMCA Policies and Procedures and they were first posted here on the forum in 2011. In the first paragraph it is more general and says "information, communication and discussion [is to be] about antique motorcycles 35 years and older." It also generally states "and all posts and comment should be suitable for family viewing and reading." These are the general specifications I follow as moderator. There is more specific text in the fourth paragraph about posts and interaction. I did remove one today the as moderator I felt did not meet the specs of a family friendly viewing and reading language. The other ones you mentioned about a chicken truck and an Indian I was not aware of.

Here is the link for here on the forum to the rules. The quote of the whole section from the Policies is below that.

                          • The easy way to look at this, Folks,..

...Is that if its focused on anything remotely vintage motorcycle related, it aught to fly.

But if its four wheels, forget it.,

On the other hand, five wheels should be okay....

                            Motowheel.jpg

                            Or thirteen...

                            kettenkrad2.jpg

                            It depends.

                            • Mike, Thanks for the reply and what you do on here.

But confused. From my memory, you removed the chicken truck, Eric's color response, Cotten's follow up with a picture of a Indian, a comment from someone that something was going to ruin the forum, your pic of a 1921 Indian, then Gene's response that it was a '22 or '23 model. What was wrong with all of these? Why did you leave the Valiant car and girl in a swimsuit? I see nothing related to a motorcycle in that picture I posted.

I have a ton of pictures and was trying to post a black and white in the morning and a color photo in the afternoon to mix it up. I ran out of color motorcycle pictures so I thought some color pictures of some interesting vehicles of the time might be cool to the members that might remember some of them when they were younger or show the 'new younger' crowd what used to be. I see nothing obscene in any of the above mentioned posts/ pictures that were removed. I know the rules you posted. Maybe the title should be changed to 'Vintage Motorcycle Pics of the Day ONLY'.

I am singling out Cotten's post #792 the first picture for no other reason than to make a point. It is not motorcycle related and should be removed according to the rules you just posted. I personally like the picture but rules are rules right? The last picture in post #9 should be removed, quite a few in post # 10,last pic in post #22, last pic in post #58,first pic in #68, should I go on? We were all enjoying this, what happened all of the sudden?

Mike, you do a great job, but can't we just have some fun with old pictures? I guess not.

(I actually don't know if they were Hottentots, but I do suspect that was a Douglas motorcycle.)

The National Geographic Magazine probably produced this porn long before we were born.
