Picture 1739 is a 1935 VL, presumably in a black/white Police paint scheme. Is that an early radio set in the box marked 59? And maybe a first aid box mounted using the luggage rack screw holes at the back? The bike has the one year 1935 horn brackets and Connie Schlemmer told me they cracked and broke from vibration, so a reinforcing strut was added later in the season.

I think these might be 1935 bikes, but I can't tell for sure. The sign in the window behind them says "Harley Davidson 1935" and I think there may be a new bike in the window, but not sure if the officer's bikes are 1935 models too.

I'm also guessing 1935 for picture 1743, even though the bikes do not have the forward painted tank panel, perhaps they are in all over Police Silver. The tank decal is 1934/5, the muffler is 1935/6 and the larger tank caps are 1935/6. Maybe the keen-eyed can tell if the handgrips are 7" long (1934) or 6" long (1935 on), and if the headlamp is a last year Motolamp or first year Cycleray.
The charming picture 1745 is in Herbert Wagner's 1930-41 Harley-Davidson book, where it is labelled as Margaret 'Mugs' Pritchard of Appleton on her 1932 Forty Five.Comment

Hope these aren't too depressing. Lot's of good parts left on these bikes, but I'm guessing they ended up in the scrap heap back then. Bummer!
