    Saddle bag conditioning

I have a couple of sets of old leather saddle bags that are dry. I have some oil bought from Heathers Leathers but it seems there should be an inexpensive spray on oil that would work as well, be cheaper and apply easier. What is everyone using?

Thank Paul, Most of the comments from 2022 are about seats. My saddle bags are so patina that they look like alligator skin. Wiping on doesn't work well. I was hoping there was a spray on product that worked well. I assumed something like WD-40 spray lubricant might work.

Sounds like I should use Lexol.
          Thanks for the search.

I have used Harley Leather Conditioner with good results. Look at that price!

I usually use Kiwi shoe polish first and then the conditioner a few days later to let the shoe polish soak in. I use Leather Therapy to restore bags and seats. Works great on old gloves too. I have had this set of Iron Bags on my bike for almost 30 years.

For the 'what it's worth department'; I have a set of 51 H-D bags that were out of commission for many years which left them hard, wrinkled, and deformed. Worsham Castle suggested a long bath in warm water too rehydrate the leather and get them clean. I was skeptical but did it because they were not useable. After the bath, I stuffed them with old towels to give the bags some form and then let them dry and finished them with Lexol. It worked for me. It worked for me but don't take this as gospel.

It was gospel for me in the late '70s and early '80s, Eric!

Plus one on the Leather Therapy, Deebs!

Anything but neats'foot, particularly if they seem "production" but ain't; Like these, if anyone can identify them.

That looks like a great place to do business and hang out. What's the dogs name?

That was Sammy, short for Samantha, Deebs,..

(Until a pit bull down the street came from under a fence and took her out.)

You can tell what the weather is doing just by going out and looking at the Roof Bike!

I am sorry about Sammy. Our pets are family.
