Here's what's on the bike now, which I believe is original due to the unmolested condition of the rest of the bike. The needle has been damaged due to the lack of lens

Have you tried Kevin Flanagan? If he's still working on ammeters he may be able to resurrect yours....it's worth a shot!

      BTW...nice speedo!

Interesting....I could've swore mine Wass the same as Harry's. I just went and looked...and it is except it has "Starklite Cycle" on it-then I checked my '47 and guess whaat? "Starklite Cycle on it in smaller letters. I ever even looked for that. There goes my judging career.

After looking at an original gauge and face I have it is exactly like the 41-46 shown in hatfields except it has two very small ,painted black rivets, way closer than the screws on pisten-bullys bike and the eBay item.So probably more than one between 41- 46.
Does you gauge show evidence of wide screw holes or closer rivets where the face was attached?

Here's a closeup of my ratty gauge. Two regular slotted screws fairly close together.

If those screws mount the face I don't think the original faces on the eBay sale or pisten-bully's pic would work. The location is closer to my gauge with rivets.
Maybe its not an Indian gauge, although looking at the complete bike it appears original to the bike.
No gauge in hatfields guide shows screws on the face in that location. But he also doesnt show my gauge which I guess to be 41-42.
I would look for a complete gauge.
The eBay example may seem crazy but I paid $200 for a nos ammeter for my 47 in 1985.But I only paid 1500 for a complete matching numbers basket, just missing the speedo and ammeter.
WAit a few years and they will be 1k.

After spending a little more time with the bike this weekend, in addition to the ammeter (I appreciate all the responses), I also need a pair of spark plug wire boots, and a tailpipe clamp. Again, a little ratty is fine for this bike.
