  • Need Nice Set of 45 Aluminum Heads - Have Pair of NOS Deluxe Fender Emblems to Trade

Hello....I am restoring a '49 Servi-Car and want to make it as original as can be. I need a nice set of #6 aluminum heads with no broken fins for my Servi. I know there are some on eBay for sale, but I am hoping to do a trade. I have a pair of NOS Deluxe fender emblems in original packaging with clips to mount, H-D part number 11530-46.
    Thanks much.

And with studs and nuts, not bolts.

Yes sir, although this Servi has lived its life here in the New Mexico desert, was told they went with aluminum with the hope of it running cooler in the Summer months. I want to do this project as original as I can, but I'm going to ride that sucker year-round, so I thought keeping the aluminum may be better. What do you guys think about that, would aluminum heads make a difference cooling wise vs cast iron, or no biggie?

You fell into a trap, Clanky,...

When you used the word "restore" (and the very loaded word "original"), which this community often qualifies by how "correct" to factory production the results may be.

In the long run, it better preserves your investment, however we know that most of us find personalization rewarding.

The Factory chose cast iron for severe duty machines, so they must have found an advantage.

                              Nice photos.
Cotten...You are correct, sir. My bad. I can't do an original restoration with incorrect parts.
UPDATE: From what I can tell from my parts books, the correct heads would be cast iron marked 5.5 on the motor side, with 2 ridges near that, I believe that is the medium compression head. I don't know about other years, but in '49 the cast iron heads were painted silver, according to Palmer.
