Hi,
I realise that this may not be easy, but I am looking for a Knucklehead to restore. While I would much prefer something complete or almost complete, I would consider any project that at least comes with an original frame, motor and gearbox.
I know that this is my first post, but I've been following this forum and that of the Classic American Iron for over a year now primarily in terms of trying to educate myself and look for an Indian or Henderson inline four. Recently I have 'hopefully' become more realistic expanding my interest to other Indian and Harley models. After a lot of thought I have decided to try for a Knucklehead, either EL or FL, although I know that this will not be easy either. I have several pre-war English racers (Rudge, Scott, Sunbeam) which I enjoy working on and already keep me busy, but I am looking to build a bike that I can take on long-distance tours and being American, although I am currently in Europe, I thought that it would be nice to have an American bike instead. I'd like a restoration project so that I can be involved in restoring it myself as I intend to use it and rely on it. I know that a Panhead, although even then I would really prefer only a 1948 model with the spring fork, should be a much easier proposition, but I really prefer the Knucklehead and so am going for that first.
I thought that I would try to ask among real enthusiasts having already wasted time with the now all-too-usual internet scammers searching online for sale ads. While I realise that this forum is mainly US-based, I recently shipped a Sunbeam over with very few problems and I suppose that the odds of finding what I'm after are much higher in the US than Europe. Of course anything in Europe would be much easier for me.
Any help or leads would be most appreciated. Thanks very much for your time.
Regards,
Keith
