1930 VL engine, complete except carburetor. Turns over, haven't opened it up. No damage or repairs to cases other than some chain grooves.
Good engine numbers, will provide bill of sale. Matching 1930 belly numbers. Some chipped fins. Can send pictures via email or text message. Located in Western Pennsylvania, north of Pittsburgh.
    $2600 obo.

Also have a VL transmission that needs a case crack repaired, and a pair of 19" VL wheels and rear brake and drum that will be available for purchase to buyer of engine.20170617_163337.jpg20170617_163529.jpg20170617_163245.jpg

From the number that is one of the first 200 engines made. They were all recalled and a new engine with the same number replaced it. I'm wondering if this one is the first or second design. The difference is the cases and flywheels. The First design is smaller.

Dear Chris, we can find out from the owner, but I think the engine number looks more like 11,000 than 1100, which would make it a regular later 1930 motor. The only surviving early motor with the small cases known so far is 30V1238 at Wheels Through Time museum. A few of the early recalled bikes with engine numbers under 3000, on replacement cases, are around. Some of the numbers look like they may have been stamped by the dealers rather the factory.

Is this a "V" or "VL" motor? Thread title says VL but engine serial appears to indicate V. In other words, shouldn't the engine serial be 30VLxxxx?
