I met Carl quite a few years ago when I lived in Orlando. He was an entertaining fellow, loved Indians, and our deals were always fair and equitable. I remember him as being a live wire and always on the go. As Keith said, Carl was an active, and enthusiastic AMCA, and Sunshine club member. My deepest condolences to his wife, daughters, family and friends. I hadn't seen Carl in years, but I will miss him.

Carl was my dearest and closest friend for 25 years. THE premier Chief, Scout, 101 and Excelsior motor builder in the South East. He could build a motor in his sleep.Even after and accident 15 years ago cost him his lower left leg he was unstoppable. Made two trips to the Arctic Circle and back.
The last thing he did the day before his ill fated voyage began, he delivered my 40 prewar Army Chief motor, his final build. Needless to say, the entire restoration is being dedicated in his name. The bike will be at the Sunshine Region National. Clear signals ahead, my friend and brother. Marty Megregian

Pete Gagan, age 84, Past President of the AMCA and one of its earliest and longest members, recently passed away in British Columbia. A biography of his vintage motorcycling career is on the AMCA web site. He was also the founding instigator of the Canadian Vintage Motorcycle Group in 1968-69, the Canadian version of the AMCA and British VMCC.

With the passing of Pete Gagan, the AMCA lost another touchstone to the pioneer days of the AMCA. I recall seeing Ted Hodgden at all of the early Florida AMCA meets and thinking of how much he had done to make a weird hobby of likeminded motorcycle people into a connection of devoted enthusiasts from all over the place. I was always amazed how members from California, Canada, Germany, or Kansas would make the journey to Florida to be around other people that loved the same stuff. Pete Gagan had that same passion and desire to make the AMCA the great club it still is. My deepest condolences to Pete's family, many friends, and AMCA members.

            Curt Bunce - Empire Chapter
            • Tim Fitzpatrick, President of the Empire Chapter called this morning to tell me that Curt Bunce #27 (Treasurer) passed away Saturday. Curt was the National Treasurer for the club from 1992-1996 before Pete Gagan, Dennis Craig, and Ray Dhue. Curt had been a member since 1983, according to our database.
