Indian seat pan - barn find

DSC03834.JPG A guy I know recently found this seat pan mounted on a HD seat T in a barn. I think it is Indian and probably military judging by the little 'guards' that protect the edge. Can anybody affirm or reject this?

Could be an early 741, Military Sport Scout or Chief. Here's one I traded an HD pan for with Barry that looks almost like an exact match except mine does not have the guards or the holes.

When it comes to solo seats I'm clueless. All I have to contribute is from Hatfields Book:

If you don't get an answer here I am on a fb Indian Part ID site and could post your seat pictures there.

At one time Heathers Leathers had a lot of pictures of seats and seat pans that had crossed their counter HD, Indian, Aftermarket ect. (I kick myself now that I did not copy/download that stuff).

I wouldn't rule out Heathers as a possible source to ID this seat.

Jerry, based on the side protection plates alone I'd say you've got a 1946 Chief seat, or maybe an earlier Essential Use, police, or military Chief. The vent holes and studs also appear correct for the '46 seat, as well as the square holes for the two nose mount bolts. I don't know of another seat by another manufacturer, OEM or aftermarket, that utilized those side protection plates on their seats. Here's mine recovered by Michael Paquette:
