  • Fork identification

These appear to be 741 forks with the tab broken off. Can anyone point out the features that identify these forks other than lamp bracket and tab?
Are they 741, Sport Scout or Chief? I know there is a difference between 741 and civilian forks, though did not know if Chief and Sport Scout 1935-1948 were that different.

Matches Ziggy's known NOS set to a good degree.

        Yep,

Those are 741 forks with the speedo mount cut off. 741 forks are an inch or so longer then Sport Scout forks, and there are two holes at the bottom of the fork legs, one hole for the fender mount, one hole for the axle (Sport Scout only one hole for both axle and fender mount). The axle in the lower hole gave an inch or so lift to the front end.

The fork shackles or links are different on the 741 and Sport Scout, the Sport Scout has a clamping screw to tighten down on the shackle bolts, the 741 does not have these.

Let me correct myself, on the 741 fork the lower fork shackles have one pinch bolt each, the upper shackles have no pinch bolts. (Sport Scout has two pinch bolts each, upper and lower)

I saw it, Robbie. Everything I need for the chassis. He said the shipping on this is $147.00 though I can't see how. If he only came down to five and shipping isn't a surprise grand to get it here.
              Just a dream for now.
              Thank you very much, Joe.

I think easy to see sport scout vs 741. If you follow down the lines of the front tubes. The 741 looks like it turn backwards a little bit at the bottom & SS is inline with front tubes. Robbie's pic shows the turn back..
