  • Indian 741 Solo seat Pans

Here's a basic question for those with experience using the 741 solo saddle and seat pans.
How do you tell the difference when purchasing a 741 seat pan from 30s to 40s Chief? Were they the same?
Here are a few photos of the pan I just bought. Is it a 741 pan?
    Thanks.

I am also missing a seat and tee for my 741.
I think all the Indian solos used two studs,or thin head bolts, welded to front of pan,not the carriage bolt bracket you show.
I believe pre38 was a short nose pan and post 38 a longer nose.
If you look at Greer's site his repro 741 has a much flatter nose. Also it appears the seat tee is same as plunger frame chiefs with the seat post slot unused,so the pan should match up to late Indian tee
If you look at 47 solo seats page he shows all three styles, but not the bottoms.

That is a "short" seat tee for a WLA.on another H-D pan.

That's what I thought. I guess I have an HD pan to trade for a 741.
Anybody with an HD need one?
I should have asked here first!
            Thanks.

Here's what Greer's has for fitment, though I did not see the pan.

As far as I know all Indian pans have two studs on the pommel as opposed to the H-D slot.

I don't think I have ever seen an original. Indianrepo has reproduction pans.
741 reproduction Solo Pan 1.jpg As you can see, just as you described.
741 reproduction Solo Pan 2.jpg and the deep V groove on the inside, not four like the HD pan.
Here is a reference from Indianrepo once restored.

                      Thanks, rusty. That helps.
                      Is that one for sale?

Do you have anything Sport Scout to trade?

Only an original 1941 tail light lens. I tried to send a message though might not have worked. Anyway, whatever you need on top if you take the lens is fine.
