  • Black Muffler Finish

My understanding is 1937 Chief, Scout, & Sport Scouts had chrome exhaust pipes and a black finish muffler/cut-out. What would Indian use to finish the black muffler/cut? A high heat stove black or a standard black paint? Any opinions on the gloss & best lasting finish? Thanks

High temperature powder coating might be an option for you. We use Columbia Coatings black which has about a 35-40 percent gloss and is good for 1200 degrees.

I have used PJ1 heat paint on many motorcycle exhaust pipes over the past 30 years with great success. I have also tried Krylon, Rustloeum and a few other brands and they did not stand up to winter salt like PJ1. I have also had success with POR15 brush on heat paint.

Thank You both for your response. I am also considering a heat cured Cerakote product. Anyone have any experience with Cerakote?
