1929 101 45 rear fender

i have a 29 101 with a high number 82xx and the rear fender has a hinge, is it possible that this fender was put on instead of the non hinged because it was late in the production year? thanks

My copy of Hatfields only goes back to 1932.
Could it be a Chief rear fender? I found a couple (1926) at Parkers Au with a hinge:

My 1930 Indian 101 Scout has the hinge in rear fender…these were a running change post 1928.

...most literature says the hinged rear fender appeared in 1930, but of course with Indian's "no model years" approach to 1928-1931 Scouts one has to wonder if there are late '29 Scouts with the newer fenders. And with no frame numbers until Dec. 1930 one has to rely on motor numbers to date a bike...and who's to say the motor is original to the frame 90+ years later? I've got a 1930 motor and a rear fender with no hinge!
