  • 1940 Sport Scout 12 Volt Conversion

I'm looking to convert my 1940 Sport Scout to 12 volts.
Does anyone know of any kits available.
    Thanks

Seems like Howard Wagner has done this (Omaha). The Fremont meet is over, so would have to phone him. Got a directory?
I thought he had generator up front and low ahead of the crankcase, a 12-v from VW or Crosley?
Since SS is opposite rotation of Chief, ...... Howard likes little challenges like that.

I like the 12-v VW or Crosley idea? Any leads this item? Thanks.

          Moto1969!

The last time I searched for a VW assembly (a decade past..), the boneyards were all picked, and auto supply 'rebuilds' were not only crap, but double-ended bus models only.

A Crosley would be even more of a hen's tooth here in the Midwest, and perhaps more to service. And when you are done, its still not an element that makes your machine appreciate with time. My philosophy is that you should only spend your money once.

Frank did my 6V 440 generator and electronic relay and I understand his 12V conversions work very well and are just as unnoticeable.
