Frame: 640 is a Sport Scout number, for 1940
Engine: GDA is not a 45" SportScout, but the "A" denotes '41.

Sucher's book says, .... oh, what the heck, I better confirm stuff first.

Try the AMCA Website Virtual Library. Or E-Bay under e-bay motors, literature, motorcycle, Indian. You can get re-prints fairly cheap.

It looks like you got a 640 45" military scout to me. Somebody might have swapped the engine cases to GDA cases, which are essentially the same at some point, but the rest is a 45" model. 741 heads had angled spark plugs, crotch shifter and no gas tank instruments.
