  • Compressing the clutch on a 1940 Scout.

Well, I'm back at it pulling the engine on the Scout (1940).
My question is the manual say you need a special tool (23T269) to compress the clutch to dismantle. Are there alternates?
    Thanks

You can reverse the outer primary cover (that is, turn the inside facing out) and use it in place of the special tool. At least I know it can be done on a Chief, I've not tried it on a Sport Scout.

I'll work on a Sport Scout too as I have done that on my 40 SS, but would recommend buying the tool from one of the Indian suppliers.
