I'll try this again. Wail attending a estate auction I found a suitcase with a Hedstrom/Hendee engine in it. I began searching and found the majority of the major componets of the bike, but not everything. So just to prove how little I know about Indians I understand that the letter in the serial# indicates the year, in this case (F) 1916? And the first number indicates model (7) what model might this be ?? I'm pretty excited about my find but need a good resource for the missing parts that I will need. Thanks to the AMCA and all its members for your help...

Hi Pete,
F is a 1914 motor designation. Here is a good link to decode this stuff. http://www.indianmotorbikes.com/resources/serials.htm 1916 US models were no longer using the Hedstom motor, they switched to the Gustafson Powerplus design. If it is a Hedstrom, it is an F head (valve configuration aka IOE "inlet over exhaust"). If it is a Powerplus, it will be a side valve (aka flat-head) with both valves on the side. Hope this helps.
Regards,
Bill

Oh, and you can go to www.indianpowerplus.com and link to a couple guys that make Hedstom and Powerplus parts. I've bought several things from Ziggy Kapuscinski with good success.
