    Hello Indian aficionados…
I pick this up at a car show years ago, now wondering what it is exactly. Tool box?

    Some pictures….

    The box is 9 1/4 (door) x 4 1/4 (door) x 3 3/8 deep.
    There are no mounting holes.
I believe the paint is original, it’s a very dark blue (police?).
It has the Yale lock which I think is earlier than the Corbin lock? So I’m guessing mid 20’s or earlier?
My guess is like a first aid box for a cop bike, no mounting holes provided for custom installation?
Just a guess on my part. Anybody else recognize it?

    Thanks for any info.
    Joe

All I could find was this similar unit. The owner also questions the era. Perhaps a military version from the early 40's.

Another with a limited picture. Maybe much earlier than WW2.

These were primarily first aid boxes. Came on some police bikes, usually an accessory. Some had mounting tabs, some not. Personally have had three. Often silver or red with hand painted medical cross on them. Usually had the later Corbin lock found on thirties tool boxes. Some had the earlier Corbin twenties style lock. Uncommon but out there.
