41 scout engine oil

What grade engine oil should I run?Is synthetic or modern oil OK? Or should I just run straight 50?

I run Harley-Davidson 60 wt. because it's hot in Florida. H-D oil is high quality, and available, albeit at an outrageous price. You're from the N.E. so temperature should be your guide. Heavy weight oils are generally expensive and not readily available. As for gasoline, high test is a waste of money in a sidevalve Indian.
