  • 52-53 Chainguard Enclosure Piece

Does anyone make that little bit of sheet metal for the chainguard that closes off the kick start lever hole on the bottom?

    Yes,
The part is available in our catalog:

Yes, I bought the piece--fits nice. Next question--how were these attached? I can see how it fits, using the two tabs, but should it be spot welded or brazed?

This piece fits in with the 2 tabs gripping the main chain guard, the bottom is then fastened with a bolt that also achors the rear of the exhaust header to the frame. There is a cast boss on the frame to receive this bolt. Your lower chain guard piece should have a corresponding mounting hole at the bottom for this. Take care in fitting this part, as you want it to conform to the shapes of the forward section of the chain guard, yet still clear the swing of the kicker.

Yes, I see how it works. Played with it the other night and found that you can't permanently attached it to the chainguard as the guard then will not assemble with the kickstart gear and drive sprocket sticking out.
