Hello everyone. I am having nightmare-ish level trouble with my 1932 Chief Hollow Front Axle. I had one, but it had some buggered threads on one end so I sent it to a machinist, and he made one and sent it back to me in the same box as the original one, via USPS. Well.....USPS can't find the box. I've done everything I possibly can but to no avail. So not only did I lose the one that the machinist made, now I also lost the original one with the nuts on each end. Curious if anyone has any specs on an original 1932 Chief Hollow Axle?. Here is what I think I know: The piece is 6.03 inches long....it is 15/16 in outside diameter....on one end I believe it is 7/8-24 threads and on the other end I believe it is 3/4-24 threads. I believe the inside diameter of the piece is something like 0.45 inches, definitely a little smaller than 1/2". I don't know how long the threads are on each end. If anyone has any info on the dimensions, I would certainly love to hear it. Or if you have one laying around in your shop, I would love to buy it. I've already tried Kurly/Starklite out of Wisconsin and I tried Steve Rinker...I also tried Walker....no one returning any of my calls/requests. I am attaching a few pics. Thanks for anyone's help. bdawson67@gmail.com

bdawson, I have made some sound repairs to bad threads using these type of tools. The good thing about that hollow axle is it doesn't have any rotating mass on it like an engine mainshaft. With a thread repair and some Loctite blue it should be a serviceable part.
PS, I know they lost the part but I figured I would post this in case someone needed the info.

Thanks for the responses guys. I saw Ziggy's ad on Ebay, he just isn't correct on the years that it is applicable for. His part number is accurate for '36, but not for '31 or '32 as listed. The part he is selling is definitely good for '34, 35, 36 but it has 11/16-24 threads on both sides and is 3/4 in O.D. Mine has different threads on each side and has a 15/16" O.D. Also you can purchase that part on Greer Engineering website...as Greer has the same part number for '36 as what Ziggy is selling. The Hollow Axle length dimension is the same for '32 thru '36 Chiefs at 6.03 in long, but the threads are not the same. I believe they changed the threads on either side around '33 or 34. Still looking for dimensions of '32 Chief hollow axle if anyone has them. thx

Still may be worth your time to give Ziggy a call or drop him a line. What he post is a fraction of what he has
Often port of 'last resort"
Zorn (NY) may have something:

Same thing not a lot on site but if you cotact them maybe?
Also there is another fleabay seller who is associated with Dale's Wheels through Time
could send a question

Years ago I needed a voltage regulator for my 48 Pan (miss that bike) drove to Haynes Harley on Vicerman Hill
(nope) but he called and there was one in Amsterdam NY at the HD dealer.
My friend and I drove to Amsterdam. Asked the guy behind the counter (This is when HD had REAL shops) Nope
As I'm headed for the door he asks: "Were you just a Joe Haynes Harley?"
"Oh I been saving it for you here back behind the counter!"
Don't hurt to ask
[NOTE I have more success with this approach with parts than women . . . but that is another story]
