    Hydraulic fork question

Hi All. The LH lower on the Chief I am working on has a lower bracket I don’t understand- I don’t know what it’s for. It looks factory and very much like the RH brake anchor except the hole is smaller. Anyone know what this is for? IMG_2064.jpeg

...I wonder if that fork leg has brackets to accommodate both versions of fender skirts for the hydraulic Chiefs? 1950 had bigger, or deeper, skirts and would have mounted low on the fork, while the later hydraulic Chiefs had shallower skirts mounted up higher. That's all I got!

My 1951 chief has the same bracket to mount the fender. As PB mentioned this lower mount is not on a 52-53.
