  • 80" timing

Does anyone have a 50-53 chief service manual? I need to know how far before tdc to install the distributor. The flywheels I have do not have any marks for reference,I thought I saw 11/16 from the top of the cylinder but that seems like a pile of advanced timing. Was hoping someone could confirm so I could make new marks on my flywheels.

You may want to lookat jim mosher's performanceindian web site for a some interesting observations he has made on timing the 80.

Kiwi's video doesn't give a measurement for where to put the timing mark before TDC, but around the 8 minute mark he shows how to time an 80" using flywheel marks already stamped for a 74". Not very precise and not really what you're looking for, but getting closer!

Thanks guys, Paul I must have overlooked that in the supplement but that's what I thought the spec was. Boy that is a pile of timing, guess I'll have to make my own marks at 22°. Thanks again
