  • rigid frame Chief brake shoes

I know rigid frame Chief (and, I assume all rigid frame, or early Indians) REAR Brake shoes are hard to find. I saw several ads on sleezebay from different vendors offering new aftermarket riveted brake shoes. The ad from one specific vendor claims the shoes will match the factory OEM part number 35D228X. The shoes offered are riveted and NOT bonded. The price range is around $120 for the pair.

Several of the vendors offer the same shoes, claiming the shoes fit chiefs up to '53. These vendors all say the shoes have a V-Twin stocking number (49-1773). Other information in the ad indicates the shoes fit a Harley Davidson 31-37. Of course I'm suspicious.

My question... has anyone tried these ? I would like to have an extra set of brake shoes (I have 2 rigid frame Chiefs).
Also, I didn't know that V-Twin was offering parts that fit Indians...

    Any comments would be appreciated.

after a phone call to V-Twin, the product tech tells me the brake shoes are for rigid frame Indian chief '31-'39. The Harley reference is incorrect.
