...I'm finding the Avons are between $200 and $300 per tire now, IF you can find them in stock anywhere. And I need one.

The Shinko looks like a good tire. Won't work well for me though, there are more miles of gravel roads here than miles of paved roads. I also live on a gravel road and feel more comfortable on a tire that has a more aggressive tread. I also found Avon's weren't available last time I needed a tire so I went with Heidenau K34's. The Heidenau is a good tire but I don't think the tire life is quite as good when compared to the Avons.

Geez... two years ago, I had bought the AVON Safety from JP for $164 each. $328 for two. Now... they've doubled in price IF you can get them??? At that same time 2 years ago, Shinko 240 were $92 each and now "about" $115 ea. Just sayin'...Jim

My Shinkos are mounted and a minor thing I noticed is that the tire bead isnt scalloped as much as the Arcos i took off or my old goodyears ,so the rim doesnt make full contact with the sidewall leaving a small gap at the rim edge.Coker Indian scripts and classics used to fit the same.
With obvious attention to making a classic appearing modern construction tire this seems like a detail that would be easy to get right unless it has some structural purpose.

After putting 150 miles on the Shinkos,50 in pouring rain,I am trying to find my ideal pressure.I started at 19rear 21 front and that seems to low.Althought the tires are 4ply sidewall and tread the sidewalls seem thinner or softer than my coker 5:00x16.With 18 in the rear coker I can rock the bike sideways and see little sidewall flex. The Shinkos at same pressure have alot more flex.At one point I thought I was getting a flat in a turn.
Im trying 24f aand 22frtoday but suspect the correct psi may be closer to 36 psi like my dunlop elites.Max psi for Shinkos is 41.
SO any feedback on Shinko pressure appreciated.
