Hello. I have a 1947 Chief with a Edison splitdorf rm Magneto. I need to advance the timing on it. Is there a way to advance the timing without removing the mag? Can it be done inside the mag?

Ok after looking at the bike closer it turns out my problem is not the timing. The cable was mounted on the wrong side of the mag. I was told the cable should not be mounted to the frame but didn't understand. Now I do lol. So I thought I was advancing when I pulled the handle back and I was really retarding it. MUCH easier fix! The bike is still new to me and I am having fun working on it. But I still don't know what I am doing lol Fixing someone else screw up makes it more complicated. Thank you for your help.
