  • Indian script tank badges

    found a pair of copper plated badges with black paint between letters..... does anyone know if indian ever did this? also how can you tell the repros from the originals ? weight?

    Are you referring to the 47,48, etc style script? I "think" originals were made from brass, at least the ones on my 48 appear to be brass (not magnetic) The inserts between letters were painted red regardless of tank color. At least that was the standard anyway.

    Just looked at Greers site and their reproduction scripts are stamped from brass as well. I am not sure about Starklite's emblems. Post pic front and back if you can

      Could you post a picture?
      Over 70+ year history perhaps someone re-plated with copper and added some contrasting paint??

        1951 changed to black from red with red used until depletion on red machines

              sorry for the delay was out of town... heres the pics ... after reading replies i believe someone just removed the chrome and left the brass, thanks 001.JPG
