46 Chief hubs

I am working with a guy who has a number of hubs with various conditions. He wonders whether the hubs can be machined apart, removing the damaged section, and welding on a good section from another hub, giving him 2 good hubs. Has anyone seen this done, or do this?

Dan, I wonder if few, or any, folks have done the work you describe since quality reproduction hubs are available for $200. No help here, never seen one done, sorry!
