  • 1947 Indian Chief Front Brakes Question

I am working on the front brake shoes on a 1947 Chief. Both aluminum shoes appear identical except one has the number "L0068L" cast on one side. Are these shoes facing front or facing back specific or are they interchangeable? Thank you for any help.

They're fully interchangeable between leading and trailing, that must be a casting number unrelated to a part number is my guess!
Pisten Bully is Harry Roberts in Vermont.

I hate to give bad advice but I believe it makes a difference on which side of the shoe goes against the backing plate. Check to see that the shoe makes full contact with the brake drum.
