I got the cylinder manifold nipple out. I punched the pin out Heated the nipple, a little penetrating oil, and it unscrewed with no trouble. I have a new tapered pin. I am thinking of getting some 2000 degree f thread retaining compound, and just using that to hold the nipple in. Or I can drill and ream the hole, then I would need to make a new pin. What about retaining compound, and using a set screw? Any thoughts. Stan

    Tapered pin, Stan?

Hope you mean a tapered head, because that helps immensely.
Tapered otherwise risks cracking the casting.
Its best to ream and cut a custom rivet to a precise fit from a large nail annealed cherry-red in coals, and cooled slowly.

(OEM button-head rivet shown on top is difficult to seal upon the inside curve of the nipple. Over-size tapered head rivet shown below.)

The problem with two thousand degree goober is you better hope it seals perfectly the first time.

    Set screws are ugly.
