    1947 Indian Chief

I have a '47 Indian Chief that needs to be titled in Massachusetts.
Do I use the Engine # or Frame # for the VIN?
    Thank you for the input.

I think it depends on your particular jurisdiction? Here in Vermont they don't issue titles for old machines, but you still need a VIN inspection by the police for the registration (but only if you don't have a previous registration). So I had a local LEO come to inspect the VIN, he was a little heavy and had to get on the ground with his flashlight to pick out the frame number.... but that's what they use in our state, the frame number! (.... he would have rather used the motor number... easier to get at!)
Pisten Bully is Harry Roberts in Vermont.

Hi I live in Mass & have titled multiple machines. First & very important do you have a paper trail, old title or old registration or bill of sale from licensed dealer ,does not matter how old, if so, use those vin numbers. for instance if it uses engine or frame go with that, some titles will use both. if no paper trail, not impossible but gets harder.
