  • Source for Kelsey Hayes style rims?

I'm not having any luck finding good usable rims for my '31 Chef front and sidecar wheels. This is a one year only rim, 19", 40 hole laced to the hub flange on one side and brake drum on the other, so the spoke angles are significantly different side to side. Also they have the larger nipple holes, about .350" or so. I found two but one cracked big time while truing the wheel and the other is pitted pretty badly and slightly bent.

Does anyone know of a source for a 19" Kelsey Hayes style rim that is not drilled yet, and or a place that can make this style rim and punch the odd angled spoke holes?

Planning on putting these on the 24 Chief for the Cannonball, so I need to get moving!

    Thanks!

Tom Feeser of Replicant Metals sells drilled 19" KH rims; perhaps Tom may be able to help you source blank rims.

Gene, look at K-Model or early Sportster parts. They used KH with a flange and drum, came in 19", and the spoke holes were smaller allowing easy enlargement. You may have to buy complete wheels though, and they would be chrome.

Pico Wheel in Santa Clarita, CA can straighten bent and dented rims. They aren't cheap but the do it right. 818 678 0375

Thanks for the comments. Buchannans does not have any Kelsey Hayes style rims any longer. I'll be persuing the pre 64 Sportster and K model rims.
