    Just bought a Indian riders instruction book ,it is the 1946 edition the # on the back is -10-4-46- jco

    Is there any way to tell if the book an original thanks

    If the paper fluoresces brightly under a UV lamp, its probably modern.

      Post a picture of the booklet it may help... identify the originality.

        I had a friend who was in the printing profession, and a collector of original motorcycle literature. He always looked at a page in the light, and on an angle to see if there was a type impression in the paper. If there is no impression, it is probably an offset process reproduction; unless Indian's printer did offset printing. The only way to be sure, is to compare it to a known original.

          What do the staples look like in the center of the booklet? Maybe a little rust? Smell the paper, and what exeric said...
