Priming an indian oil pump

I am in the final stages of a frame off restoration on a 39 Chief and have read that these oil pumps must be primed after being drained. Is the procedure as simple as filling the pump through the recirculating tube prior to filling the tank with oil, or is there anything else involved?

I prime the pump on my 47 by squirting oil down the oil return line. I use an old oil can with a small tip and just keep dumping oil into the return line untill it overflows. Works for me. Try it.
