Number is stamped on early 40's on left hand slipper which was robust and did not materially change over the years. It was the fragile right side slipper that broke and then had a thin longitudinal reinforcement rib added at some point for 41 and I don't know if by 42 the far stronger last version had been introduced.
So, question in context with ignition types stamped on the engine VIN pad as opposed to below. Any ideas on when it went from all on the pad to below with 440's?
