Looks like a set of 1940 engine cases if they start CDO can't quite make them out.
There is no timing inspection hole which was introduced in the later 1940's cases.
There are no emblem mounts on the tanks and the rear cutout on the back is round, most likely a 741 scout tank or other scout tank as there is no dash-plate outline near the oil tank openings. The mounting plate for the petcock and oil fittings has been removed as well. Would look good mounted on your garage wall.
