Getting ready to prep my Chief sheet metal for paint and was wondering about those two slots in the rear fender. They are about 1/8" wide and 5/8" long and are just below the pairs of rivets. What are these slots for?

Those slots should have tabs coming out from the inside of the fender. The tabs stick out perpendicular to the fender surface, and get bolted to the crossbar on the frame. Its odd that you would have the rivets but no tabs?
