    hello,

Just trying to see what factory saddlebags looked like in 1940-41? Any help appreciated.

This picture from Heather's Leathers shows what a 1940 Indian saddlebag looks like. I have a period pic of a '40 Chief with these bags but our scanner is screwed up. I don't think these bags were very popular in their day as they are rather weird looking and don't have much capacity. I believe Indian attempted to design a bag that complimented the new skirted fenders, and streamlined look.

1940 Sport Scout. Michael Paquette replaced a zipper in one of these original bags and said they were made by Milsco in Shark grain leather based upon original production plan drawings he has.
