Burning my boot on exhaust

Does any body else have problems with the hot ex pipe burning your boot? My heal is always rubbing against the pipe, and leaving burned boot on my pipe. Also on the front pipe next to the brake pedal. I guess back in the day shoes were made with leather soles, and that wasn't a problem. Does anybody make a pipe guard to prevent this? Stan
