  • 1947 Chief Front Brake Shoes

I was doing some work on my recently acquired 47 Chief. I had the wheels off getting new tires. I inspected the brakes for the first time. The shoes that were on the bike were the older riveted style. The were a little worn and the liner on one side was broken off about 1/2" from the end, so for safety sake, I decided to replace the shoes with a new pair. I ordered a new pair of shoes. I got the new shoes on the front backing plate and go to install them and they will not fit into the front drum? The liners are too thick. I guess I could have them ground down, but I just assumed they would fit without any modifications. Has anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions are appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Aaron
