  • 48 Chief Loose Cam Lifter Pin - Help

    Hello fellow Indian riders,
We are upgrading my brother's 48 Chief to Ollie Cams and when we removed the cams and lifters, we found one of the pivot pins to be loose in the steel sleeve in the crankcase. The pins is supported well in the cam-cover, but it wobbles in the steel mounting bushing in the case.

Is this a serious problem? We did not notice any excessive noise when it was running.

We are hoping to pull the pin and then shim it for a tight fit into the steal support, or perhaps use some loctite. We would like to avoid splitting the cases to install a new support. Everything else in the cam case is like new.

Any suggestions on a fix would be appreciated!
    Thank you, Patrice

      Thanks,
I just figured out that it is the steel bushing (not the pin) that is loose in the cases....thanks for your suggestion
